No hearing was held in the writ petition against the dissolution of the Land Commission

The writ petition, which was filed against government alleging that the dissolution of the Land Problem Resolution Commission was unconstitutional, could not be heard in the Supreme Court on Friday. The writ petition was scheduled to be heard in a joint sitting of Justices Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Tanka Bahadur Moktan. However, the hearing has been adjourned as demanded by the legal practitioner on behalf of the petitioners.

Devi Prasad Gyawali, the then chairperson of the Land Problem Resolution Commission, and others had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court challenging the government’s decision to dismiss the commission. The government led by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has dismissed commission formed by the previous government.
