Telephone talks between Chinese and US leaders

At the invitation of US President Joe Biden, Chinese President Xi Jinping held telephone talks with him. Over the telephone, they have exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and mutual goodwill, in-depth and extensive strategic contacts and exchange of views.

In telephone call, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that the recent US policy towards China has caused serious problems in bilateral relations, claiming that it is not in line with the basic interests of the people of the two countries and the common interests of different countries. Discussing bilateral relation, Xi said: “Sino-US relations are related to the future of the world. If there is mutual cooperation, it will be beneficial for both countries and the world and if there is mutual conflict, the whole world including the two countries will be harmed. It is not a matter of whether or not to improve Sino-US relations, but of how to improve the relationship.”

Xi further said, “In today’s world China and the United States need to move forward with a greater sense of responsibility and a return to the right path of stable development.”

“The United States has not considered changing its one-China policy, and is willing to engage in more cordial exchanges and constructive dialogue with China, and hopes to get our relationship to back on track,” Biden said in telephone.

During the telephone talks, the two sides also agreed to create an environment for the development of mutual relations through regular communication through various means.
