Chinese angry at some US politicians’ behaviors; they are ‘the thieves crying foul of thieves’: FM

The Chinese are very angry at the behavior of some US politicians, and what they are doing is like “thieves crying foul of thieves,” the Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said on Friday.

His comments came after a group of 13 Republican lawmakers on Thursday raised concerns about US approval for Chinese telecommunications company Huawei to buy chips for its growing auto components business.

Reuters reported that the lawmakers with the Energy and Commerce Committee, asked US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in a letter if he was concerned whether “Huawei will look for a foothold in developing components for future vehicles in order to gather information on Americans and our transportation infrastructure.”

The US is the world champion when it comes to stealing and collecting information, Zhao responded.

Global eavesdropping scandals such as “PRISM” prove that the US is the world’s number one “Matrix,” and it is not the US, but the other countries that should be worried, Zhao added.

Chinese companies have always maintained a good record in terms of information security. “Huawei has long openly announced to the world that it is willing to sign a backdoor-free agreement, and it is also willing to establish a cyber security assessment center in any country that accepts foreign testing,” Zhao said.

“Do US companies dare to do like Huawei?” Zhao asked.

We advise some US congressmen do more practical things for their electoral districts, and less slander, smear and political manipulation, he said.
