An asymptomatic COVID-19 case who left home without authorization and posed a hazard of spreading the epidemic during their home observation period was investigated by local police in Hangzhou, East China’s Zhejiang Province. Those held accountable for the incident were punished.
The infected person surnamed Jin from the US was confirmed as a COVID-19 asymptomatic carrier on Tuesday. Jin is currently receiving treatment at the designated hospital and the two most recently taken nucleic acid tests showed negative results.
Epidemiological investigations on Jin showed that after centralized quarantine upon Jin’s arrival was lifted, Jin went shopping and traveling during home observation and daily health monitoring, posing hazards for spreading the epidemic to the public.
So far, all close contacts of Jin and their close contacts have been placed under quarantine and all their nucleic acid testing returned negative results.
Jin has been filed for investigation by local public security department for breach of epidemic prevention and control regulations.
The Guanlan neighborhood of Baiyang community in Qiantang district in Hangzhou was held accountable for the failure of implementing management on Jin. The person in charge of the neighborhood surnamed Lou and Jin’s health contact surnamed Zhu were issued warning punishments.
