The government has not yet been able to determine the compensation for the 65 houses in the Balambu, area of Dhading and Kathmandu districts, which has caused problems in the construction of the Nagdhunga-Naubise tunnel. Although there was no obstruction in the excavation of the tunnel, the project has demanded the government to determine the compensation as soon as possible after the obstruction in the construction work outside the tunnel.
Work on the Naubise-Nagdhunga tunnel, which is under construction, has not been able to pick up speed due to problems in the distribution of compensation to Kathmandu.
Compensation for 62 houses in the Balambu area has been delayed. Similarly, compensation is yet to be paid for five houses at Khatri Pauwa in Dhunibesi Municipality on the Dhading side.
A total of 67 households are yet to be compensation. The construction work of the flyover bridge has not started as the compensation for the houses in Balambu area towards Kathmandu could not be determined. The failure to remove five houses in Dhading has caused problems in the production of construction materials used in the project. Due to which there have been many problems in the work of the project.
Naresh Man Shakya, head of the project, said that the project was halted after the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority had to decide on the compensation of five houses on the Dhading side.
The Nagdhunga-Naubise tunnel construction project has stated that the construction of the project could not be completed on time due to the delay in determining the compensation. So far, about 8,000 meters of tunnels have been dug in Dhading and Kathmandu.
Stating that the work is continuing despite the repeated corona outbreaks across the country, the government has demanded that the compensation be fixed in the next two to three weeks. Otherwise, the project cannot be completed on time, said project chief Shakya.
