Southwest China’s Yunnan Province detained 61 people for forging nucleic acid test reports over the last month amidst recent epidemic resurgence in China-Myanmar border city Ruili.
From June 8 to July 13, the public security bureau in Lianghe county detained 61 people in 43 cases for forging and using the forged nucleic acid test reports at two border checking points, according to police.
Lianghe county borders Myanmar and it’s close to Ruili where a fourth round of the epidemic is ongoing. As of Tuesday, Yunnan Province recorded a total of 61 confirmed cases.
According to police a man surnamed Fan was caught on June 22 using a forged nucleic acid test report as he drove from Lianghe county to Tengchong city. Fan was administratively detained by police for a week in accordance with the Law on Public Security Administration Punishments.
On July 9, a person surnamed Guo was caught after he changed the date on his nucleic acid test report. Guo was administratively detained for 14 days.
Local police remind the public that they will continue to crack down on criminal activities as the pandemic goes on.
