Preparations are underway to conduct the national census from Shrawan to Ashoj, which was halted due to corona (Covid-19).
The National Census Steering Committee has prepared a proposal to conduct the National census, 2078 BS from 15th Shrawan to 15th Ashoj. The proposal will be submitted to the Council of Ministers. The Central Statistics Office has stated that it will be implemented after the decision of the Council of Ministers.
Dr Hemraj Regmi, Deputy Director General of the Department, said, “Corona infection rate has started declining. If this trend continues, we have prepared a proposal to conduct the census from Shrawan 15 to Ashoj 15. We are still waiting and watching. The proposal will be sent to the Council of Ministers in the first week of Ashad.”
Earlier, the government had made public the schedule of conducting national census all over the country from Jesth 25 to Ashad 8. As the Corona infection was on the rise, the cabinet meeting on Baishakh 20 decided to postpone all the census work.
The department has stated that the rest of the work will be done from where the census work was stopped earlier. The department has set up offices in 77 districts and all seven states and selected 8,000 supervisors and 39,000 enumerators for the census. National Instructor Facilitator, State and District Census Officer Training, State Level Chief Instructor Training, Local Census Officer Training has been completed. The department has already prepared training centers and training materials for the training at district and local level and sent them to all the training centers and districts.
For this year’s census, the government has decided on the slogan ‘My Census, My Participation’. The government has allocated Rs1.60 billion in net year’s budget to complete the test of the census.
