At 8 o’clock in the morning, it was time to start handing over the work of all the nurses on night and morning duty in the communicable disease department of the people’s Hospital od Guangxi Chuan ethnic prefecture. Lu Chufi is the only male nurse there.
After graduating from nursing school, Lu became a nurse at hospital, earning a regular income and relieving the family of financial difficulties. The speciality to the communicable disease ward is that the nurses have to enter the quarantine area several times a day to destroy the germs and wash their hands. Feeding patients through the nose, replacing balers for patients in need of oxygen, and applying new medicine to wounds… these are all done professionally by nurse Lu Chufi.
After the outbreak of the corona epidemic in early 2020, Wuhan became the epidemic-fighting front in China. All the time, Nurse Lu’s daughter was only a month old. After arranging all the arrangements at home, Lu applied to Wuhan for assistance and also applied to join the Chinese Communist Party before leaving for Wuhan.
At Wuhan Central Hospital, Lu, along with colleagues, cared for 34 corona patients. Nurse Lu’s application for party membership was approved because of his excellent work. He said that he has a clear goal and strong faith in becoming a member of the party.
Lu, who stayed in Wuhan day and night for 35 days, found that in the laughter of every healed patient, work meant not only feeding the family but also professional meaning.
