Two new local COVID-19 cases and one asymptomatic case were found in Beijing on Wednesday, the local government announced on Thursday, noting the new outbreak in the capital city’s southern district Daxing is not related to previous outbreaks in the northeastern Shunyi district.
After a local clustered outbreak in Shunyi was put under control, the outbreak in Daxing showed that the epidemic prevention and control situation in Beijing is more complicated and severe, Xu Hejian, a spokesperson of the Beijing municipal government, said at a press conference.
The three patients live in the same community in Daxing.
All public places and fitness places in the disctrict have been closed, Xu said.
Among the newly confirmed local cases announced on Wednesday, one was a referee for a pet show organized by a non-governmental organization outside Beijing, a district official said on Thursday.
