Meanwhile, a meeting of Nepali Congress office bearers has started in Budhanilkantha to discuss the ordinance related to the Constitutional Council brought by the government. Among the twenty leaders of Congress are participated this meeting by President Sher Bahadur Deuba, General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka, Ram Chandra Poudel, Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, Prakash Man Singh, Deputy Presidents Bimalendra Nidhi, Treasurer Sita Devi Yadav, Bishwaprakash Sharma, Gopal Man Shrestha, Bijay Kumar Gachhedar, Sunil Thapa and Ramesh Lekhak.
Similarly, a writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking annulment of the Constitutional Council Ordinance issued by the government on Tuesday. Advocate Omprakash Aryal has filed the writ petition.
The writ petition has demanded immediate repeal of the ordinance saying that it is in conflict with the constitution. It has also demanded that the provisions in the ordinance and the appointments made on the basis of it be revoked.
In the writ, the President’s Office, the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, the Constitutional Council and others have been made the opposition.
On the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, President Vidyadevi Bhandari had issued the ‘First Amendment Ordinance 2077 of the Constitutional Council (Work, Duties, Rights and Procedures)’ on Tuesday.
