Sugarcane farmers have again started staging protest and demonstration in the Kathmandu Valley demanding due pays from the sugar mills.
Mahalaxmi Sugar Mill, Shree Ram Sugar Mill, Indiar Sugar Mill, Lumbini Sugar Mill and Annapurna Sugar Mill, among others, owe millions of rupees to the farmers.It may be noted that the agreement was reached earlier to pay due amount to the farmers in their bank account but it has been violated. The government had guaranteed payment to the farmers and they had halted the protest.
