President Bhandari’s message to India: Let’s initiate formal dialogue

  • President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has urged the Indian leadership to initiate formal dialogue at the earliest to settle outstanding issues and furthering Nepal-India relations.

President Bhandari asked the visiting Indian Army Chief Manoj Mukund Narvane on Thursday to convey her message to the Indian leadership.

Formal communication between Nepal and India has not taken place after Nepal published its political and administrative map of Nepal incorporating Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura, being encroached by India since 1962.

Last year India unilaterally published its political map depicting Nepali territory as its own and later constructed and inaugurated a motorable road connecting Tibet of China that prompted Nepal to respond to India’s illegal move.

New Delhi has been maintaining silence for Nepal’s request of formal talks since then. Kathmandu is waiting patiently for New Delhi’s response of its two formal letters requesting for dialogue. New Delhi-based Nepali Ambassador’s repeated efforts for the same  has also been unanswered .
