China sends medical experts, emergency supplies to bolster Russia’s COVID-19 fight

A team of 10 medical experts, hailing from Northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, along with donated medical supplies,left for Russia on Saturday to help combat the COVID-19 epidemic in the country.

The team of medical experts has been arranged by China’s National Health Commission. The experts are from hospitals, institutes, and disease control centers of Heilongjiang, with expertise in diagnosis, infectious disease prevention, respiration, intensive care, and traditional Chinese medicine.

The team also carried a shipment of medical supplies, including medical masks, gloves, and protective clothing for Russia.

The experts will share coronavirus prevention and treatment experiences with the Russian side. They will also give out supplies to the Chinese residents, students, and companies based in Russia.

As of Friday, Russia has reported 11,917 COVID-19 cases, with a single day spike of 1,786 confirmed cases.

Veronika Skvortsova, the head of Russia’s Federal Biomedical Agency, predicted Tuesday that the country is likely to hit its COVID-19 peak in the following two weeks.
