MCC is not revered at any cost,
Let’s all unite to kick it out !
A joint statement issued by the 35 including the parties, organizations and independent
individuals against the MCC dismissal on February 24 (Falgun 12):
Established by national reunification, Nepal has the central role of the world, with the most ancient, powerful, and uniquely distinguished, religious, cultural, political, economic, geographical and strategic dimensions. It is clear that the current world is concentrated in Asia, the developing concept of a multi-polar world and the growing international role of neighboring countries China and India, that the twenty-first century’s politics is concentrated in Asia.
In this regard, Nepal, which is located between the two largest neighboring nations China and India, has become the center of economic, political, strategic strategy. By virtue of this, no conspiracy of anyone can make Nepal in the grip of destruction. We, along with our neighbors, China, India and south Asian countries, have strong experience of destructive behavior by Western power nations on our present benefit and the possibility of sustainable future.
In recent times, the continuation of this strategy by the Western imperialists has come with the ‘Indo-Pacific Strategy’ and its integral part, the ‘Millennium Challenge Corporation’ (MCC). Both have come together as a unifying strategy for American ‘security’, ‘diplomacy’ and ‘development’. Security and diplomacy are their inner motives, while development is for displaying. We cannot accept diplomacy and so-called development linked to the security force strategy of the United States at any cost and terms.
Therefore, we the Nepalese who remain at home and abroad for the unity and to condemn and protest the secret agreement with the ‘Millennium Challenge Corporation’ (MCC) which is the strategic plan to disturb Nepal’s national interest, sovereignty, national integrity and independence, and we appeal to all the common Nepalese and to the world society the following facts to illustrate for dismissed the MCC.
1. By approving the agreement with the MCC from the parliament, in the future, no government will be able to impose constitutional recognition, Nepal will not have any role in the project after it is approved by Parliament, the entire territory acquired by MCC must be legally transferred in its pocket, and there implemented US laws, MCC may freely negotiate disputes or agreements with any other parties, Other bodies formed by it are independent from the Government and the laws of Nepal, Only the auditor appointed or supported by the MCC project will be audited, Nepal has no concerned with the interests of American’s product, employment and security, in fact Nepal is being sold in the hands of an American agency, with deadly provisions such as necessary to acquire India’s support in it and the transmission line connecting to India not in Nepal. We strongly condemn and protest this crime for selling the nation to a foreign agency.
2. Article 611 of Legislature of the MCC (2003) states that investing in it will give priority to US security interests. The MCC has been called the ‘Development Diplomacy’ of the Security Strategy in the US ‘National Security Strategy’ (2017) and the ‘Indo-Pacific Strategy’ (2019). The US Minister, MCC officials and the US Embassy also confirm that this investment is a part of ‘Indo-Pacific Strategy’ which proved it is a security strategy. On the other hand, the United States stated that the ‘Indo-Pacific Strategy’ as an organized strategy against China’s ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ (BRI). Nevertheless, there is no doubt that this conspiratorial tactic of the United States, India has also become their agent in reality. But it has not only carried the purpose of distressing Nepal and encircled China but also has a strategy of fragmenting India. We want warm relationship with all on the favor of our national interest but the geopolitics of our country and we must not in favor of a conspiracy use against anyone else.
3. The MCC Study Committee formed by the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) in coordination with the senior leader Jhalanath Khanal, has mentioned 14 more provisions related to the MCC, which has been hidden till the date, they concluded that if MCC agreement will be passed in such form, the constitution and laws of Nepal will not work, but we have objection to the suggestion of the Committee to pass it from parliament after the amendment of the MCC. Since the US government has called MCC a part of the ‘Indo-pacific strategy’, negotiations with its independent agency cannot be trusted and the MCC officials, US embassy and ambassador said that no amendment will be valid, so there is no reason of passing it. Leaving aside the original strategy and discussing of the amendment is to entrap the country from another angle into the US movement. We urge all, the concerned authorities, to discuss on the MCC and the power center’s interests only after understanding our national interests and the Nepal’s geopolitics.
