The China Study Center (CSC) Nepal, a think tank playing vital role in strengthening Nepal-China relations, has appreciated and supported the Nepal government’s successful drive in garnering a national consensus on how to deal with the Indian government on its act of encroachment upon the sovereign territorial integrity of Nepal.
In a statement issued by the Center on Sunday, it is stated, “By publishing India’s new political map which encroaches upon Nepal’s legitimate territories of Limpiadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani areas east of the Mahakali River, the Indian government has demonstrated total disregard to Nepal’s sovereign territorial integrity.”
In the statement issued by officiating chairman Sundarnath Bhattarai, it is said, “Nepal’s border with India is delineated by the border treaty of Sugauli between Nepal and Britain in 1816. But by unilaterally changing its political map, the government of India reveals its motive of occupying immediate neighbour’s inalienable territories which shows its high-handed hegemonic design.”
“CSC Nepal seriously objects and strongly condemns it.”
“Patient, peace-loving and brave people of Nepal should unitedly, rationally and vehemently protest against such belligerent misconduct of the Government of India. We call upon the international communities, the UN, regional organizations, justice and sovereignty loving countries and organizations in our neighbourhood and the world to provide support to the people and government of Nepal in safeguarding its sovereign right.”
“China Study Center also calls upon the Government of Nepal to urgently take up the matter with the government of the Republic of India and settle this and all other disputes relating to various territories along Nepal-India border encroached upon by India once and for all and safeguard Nepal’s inalienable territorial rights without delay.”
