A sitting Member of Parliament and formerly State Minister for Home Affairs Devendra Raj Kandel has been revealed as an Indian national. According to Naya Patrika daily, Kandel is a resident of Gorakhpur, Utter Pradesh and Steering Committee Chairman of a college there. Indian officials have administered him the oath of office as an Indian national. An investigation into Kanel’s case is underway by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB)of Nepal Police. The anti-corruption body-Commission for the Investigation of the Abuse of Authority directed CIB to unearth other details including his duel citizenship.
