Oli-Prachanda distance widening

Oli-Prachanda distance widening

Of late, distance between Nepal Communist Party (NCP)’s chairmen duo is widening.

Party’s co-chairman Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda is dissatisfied from Prime Minister and other chairman KP Sharma Oli’s present attitude.

Last week, at a programme in Chitwan, Dahal had warned saying that he had desired to go to jungle and launch yet another movement.

That was indicated towards PM Oli, observers say.

Prachanda is found expressing dissatisfaction against PM Oli with his close colleagues as Oli was showing dishonesty on implementation of the gentleman agreement between the two chairmen on sharing of power.

Oli, on the other hand, in an interview to a daily, had expressed the view, “If there were any agreement on sharing of power that could be implemented.”

“This is not an issue to make public but an attempt to make weak the government,” Oli has said.

Accordingly, Oli has remarked that he has privileged Prachanda by giving equal status in the party, from which Prachanda has become furious with Oli.

Furthermore, Oli has blamed the then speaker Krishnabahadur Mahara for keeping pending the proposal of Millennium Challenge Cooperation (MCC) registered by the government. On this also Prachanda is dissatisfied with Oli. MCC proposal has to be endorsed from the Parliament for its implementation.

Oli and Prachanda had endorsed an agreement on the eve of unification of the two political parties UML and Maoist Center. It was agreed to share power by the two co-chairmen equally. However, Oli has shown reluctance in sharing power in the government as well as in the party, from which, Prachanda has become furious.
