Nepali politicos speaking foreigners’ voice

Kathmandu, 10 October: Some political leaders taking part at the consultation meeting hosted by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli this morning at his official residence Baluatar have learnt to have advised Oli for not inking extradition treaty with China and also not taking loan from there. Oli had hosted the meeting to consult on agendas to be discussed during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit.

According to Baahrakhari online portal, former prime minister Baburam Bhattarai and former finance minister Ramsharan Mahat have opined that there is no need to sign extradition treaty with China. Also, they have opined that Nepal should lobby to get Chinese support on grant rather than taking loan. If Nepal needs fund, it should seek loan from the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, they have suggested. Political observers believe Bhattarai and Mahat have tried to please their foreign bosses.
