Emergency medical team rushes to SW China landslide site

A state-level emergency medical team has arrived at a landslide site in southwest China’s Guizhou Province early Wednesday morning, the National Health Commission said.

The commission also sent three leading medical experts from Beijing to help local doctors treat the injured, the commission said in a press release.

The landslide lashed a village in the city of Liupanshui in Guizhou Tuesday evening. As of about 11 a.m. Wednesday, 11 people were found dead, another 11 were rescued and an estimated 34 remained missing.

The 11 rescued are receiving treatment at three local hospitals, the commission said.

The provincial health department also dispatched more than 30 medical and epidemic control experts and psychologists to the site within 12 hours of the landslide.
