Erratic weather behind chopper crash killing tourism minister

The probe commission formed to find facts behind the chopper crash killing seven persons aboard including then Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari, has said the erratic weather was behind the crash.

The preliminary report submitted by the commission to Minister of State for Tourism Dhan Bahadur Budha stated that sudden weather change caused the helicopter crash, said a high level official at the Ministry, adding that detailed report was awaited.

The Air Dynasty helicopter carrying seven persons including then Minister Adhikari had crashed at Sisnebhir area of Taplejung district on February 27 early this year.

Following the helicopter crash, the emergency meeting of the government had formed a four member commission under the coordination of former secretary Yagya Prasad Gautam.

The team of including Minister had been there in course of the feasibility study of an airport at Chuhandanda of Tehrathum district.

As per the report, a storm occurred immediately after a minute the helicopter took off from the Pathivara Temple.
