India has sent Nepal a report of a preliminary engineering and traffic survey for the proposed Raxaul-Kathmandu railway project.
According to Department of Railways,the report has been submitted to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.The report was prepared by Konkan Railway Corporation Limited.
It has been learned that the Indian side had asked Nepal to choose between two options of 190 km and 140 km, before preparing the report. Nepali officials had favoured the shorter route.Officials believe the Indian side has addressed Nepal’s concerns in the report.
