The ruling Communist Party Co-chair Khadga Oli is trying to sideline his fellow Co-chair Prachanda. His remarks relating to mutual agreement of sharing power with Prachand and a harsh comment to Prachand’s reference that 15 months later he is supposed to be at the helm of Government as ‘the level of Nepali politics and its character’ indicates that something serious is brewing in the party.
According to Kantipur daily, Oli has alleged of attempting to split his party and bar them from unification, though he has not mentioned who were attempting to create division between the top leaders of the party. Meanwhile the paper has quoted Prachand as saying that would be the next Prime Minister after a year.
The brickbat between Oli and Prachanda is indicative of a growing trust of deficit. This whole back and forth between the two leaders also comes days ahead of a crucial meeting that will try to shape the party’s departments, form the politburo, a crucial committee that deals with political issues, and finalise work division between the central committee members.Amid all this, a debate over who should lead the party’s organisational department also hots up.
