5.1-magnitude quake strikes Japan’s Chiba Prefecture, no tsunami warning issued

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 on Saturday struck southern Chiba Prefecture of Japan, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The temblor occurred at 03:20 p.m. local time, with its epicenter at a latitude of 35.3 degrees north and a longitude of 140.3 degrees east, and at a depth of 40 km.

The quake logged 5 minus in some parts of Chiba Prefecture on the Japanese seismic intensity scale which peaks at 7.

So far no tsunami warning has been issued.
