The Chinese foreign ministry echoed Vice Premier Liu He’s comments earlier on Friday that China-U.S. trade issues are a global concern and the two sides have to find a way forward.
“It’s in the interests of both the U.S. and China that there’s a healthy and stable relationship, and the international communities hope so, too,” ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said on Friday during a daily briefing.
“We hope this is something the U.S. can work with China to achieve,” he added.
Chinese Vice Premier Liu He arrived in Washington on Thursday for the 11th round of high-level economic and trade consultations with the U.S. side.
Liu said there are some setbacks from the trade negotiations, but it shouldn’t hurt the interests of the two countries’people and other innocent parties.
The best outcome is to find a realistic way to solve the frictions with principle, through cooperation between China and the U.S., Liu added.
