Chinese airlines to trial flights at Beijing’s new airport

Several Chinese airlines are expected to participate in a flight test at the Beijing Daxing International Airport this coming Monday, airport authorities announced on Tuesday.

According to airport authorities, three airlines – Air China, China Eastern, and China Southern – will send their flagship aircraft to take part, namely a Boeing 747-8, an Airbus A359, and an Airbus A380. Beijing Youth Daily reports that a Boeing 787 from Xiamen Airlines will also take part in the test.

The planes will take off from the new airport’s runways at around 11 a.m. for a one hour flight, before landing back at the airport.

Construction work at the new transit hub in southern Beijing is scheduled to finish on June 30, and the airport will go into service by the end of September.
