US Air Force plane crashes in southwestern Oklahoma

An Air Force plane crashed in the US state of Oklahoma on Wednesday afternoon, and the pilots ejected safely, a statement from a US Air Force base said.

According to the statement from the Sheppard Air Force Base in US state of Texas, about 620 km northwest of downtown Houston, a T-6 Texan II from Sheppard Air Force Base crashed shortly before 2 p.m., in southwestern Oklahoma, about 70 km northeast of the base. Initial indications showed that the pilot and copilot ejected safely.

Emergency crews are en route to the scene and an investigation is under way.
