Two Zambians are among at least 51 people believed to have lost their lives during a rain storm that has hit Durban in South Africa, a release said on Wednesday.
The two, aged six and nine, died during the storm when the roof of their house collapsed on them whilst sleeping in the bedroom with their parents, the statement released from the Zambia embassy in South Africa, said.
It added that their father sustained serious injuries and is currently admitted in hospital.
Emmanuel Mwamba, Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa, expressed shock at the news of the tragic incident.
The city of Durban was affected by a rain storm and flash floods which claimed the lives of at least 51 people.
