An operational failure on a metro line in Chongqing Municipality on Tuesday has left one dead and three injured, reported Xinhua News Agency on Wednesday.
The accident injured one passenger and three staff members, with the remaining 30 passengers on board evacuated.
The four injured were sent to hospital, where one staff member was confirmed dead, according to local authorities.
The others’ injuries are not considered life threatening.
The failure was reportedly caused by a breakdown between two stops on the line after a problem with the subway’s protective doors.
The Chongqing Rail Transit Loop Line was put into use on Dec. 28, 2018. Construction on it began in 2013.
