“Four generations under one roof” video goes viral

A series of videos under the theme “Four generations under one roof” made in China has gone viral on Twitter.

In these videos, Chinese kids, their parents, their grandparents and great-grandparents appear in turn from youngest to oldest.

The most widely spread video was published on December 15 on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, and has gained over 2.2 million likes. In the video, a girl calls her mother, the mother then calls her mother, who then calls her mother.

Many others then followed suit and uploaded their versions of “four generations under one roof” videos.

The videos were later shared on Twitter and become a hit too, with many foreigners saying the new Chinese meme “wholesome.”

Some also shared their family photos with four or even five generations together.
