A car driver in Germany’s Recklinghausen raced into a group of people waiting at a bus stop, killing one person and injured several others, the authorities said Thursday.
According to a joint press release by the prosecutor of Bochum and the police headquarters Recklinghausen, a passenger car on Thursday afternoon drove into a group of people at a bus stop in Recklinghausen, in west Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia state, with unexplained cause.
The press release said six persons aged from 17 to 67 were injured, some of them in severe condition. A 88-year-old senior woman has died because of her serious injuries. The 32-year-old driver who is a local resident had been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Currently the area is still closed. Why the man has strayed from the road is currently under investigation. Police were called in to provide forensics.
The authorities said currently, a suicide attempt can not be ruled out.
