China’s top legislature on Friday passed a regulation on the ranking system for firefighting personnel.
The regulation was designed to create a more standardized and professional force, increase responsibility, honor and discipline, and better command and manage the country’s firefighting rescue team to ensure the team performs its duty in accordance with the law.
The regulation was adopted at the closing meeting of a bi-monthly session of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee.
According to the regulation, firefighting personnel ranking is the basis for how they are treated by the country.
It reads, “firefighting personnel who are promoted should be capable of the job, observe discipline and laws, have integrity, and be honest in performing duties.”
The regulation is part of a plan on transforming China’s fire services and armed forestry police to build a national firefighting rescue team.
The regulation will enter into effect on Oct. 27.
