Shivagoraksha–Prithvi Narayan Shah and the Gorkha Empire: Thought Seminar Concluded

Kathmandu: A thought seminar titled “Shivagoraksha–Prithvi Narayan Shah and the Gorkha Empire” has been concluded under the organization of the National and International Committees of the World Hindu Youth Federation.

The seminar was held on Poush 27 on the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti at Gorakshapith, Mrigasthali, Kathmandu, with the objective of bringing history, philosophy, nation-building, and contemporary discourse onto a single platform. The seminar featured discussions and debates on the historical journey of the Gorkha Empire, the nation-building vision of Prithvi Narayan Shah, and its contemporary meaning and impact.

Experts, scholars, activists, and analysts from various fields participated in the seminar. Speakers included Prof. Dr. Vidyanath Koirala, Associate Professor Dilli Niraula, economist Dr. Shambhu Pokharel, Guthi activist advocate Anis Baidya, Kedar Dhakal, Komal Paudel, among others, who presented their views.

According to the organizing institution’s president, Rishikesh Jung Shah, the seminar held multidimensional discussions on Prithvi Narayan Shah’s political philosophy, cultural integration, economic foundations, the Guthi system, the role of religion and culture, and their relationship with present-day national politics. The organizers expressed the belief that this seminar was important in understanding history not merely as a subject of the past, but as a guide for the present and the future.

Speakers at the seminar emphasized that by following the Nepal unification campaign, policies, life, and the teachings described in the *Divya Upadesh* of the nation-builder Prithvi Narayan Shah, it would be possible to preserve the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence, and national identity forever.
