Kathmandu, Dec 20:
Nepal is taking on Bangladesh today in the Super Four of the Women’s U-19 Asia Cup underway in Malaysia.
The match will be played at the Bayuemas Oval cricket ground in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Earlier on Thursday, Nepal and Sri Lanka shared a point each after the game between them had to be canceled due to rain.
Today’s match is crucial for Nepal as it could reach the final if Bangladesh was defeated.
Nepal defeated Pakistan by six wickets in their first match to advance to the Super Four. Similarly, Nepal and India also shared one point each after the last match of the group stage was canceled due to rain.
On the basis of run rate, India became the winner of Group ‘A’ and Nepal finished runners-up.
Six teams, including home team Malaysia, are taking part in the tournament starting on Sunday.
Bangladesh, Malaysia and Sri Lanka are in Group ‘A’, while India and Pakistan are in Group ‘B’.
Pakistan and Malaysia are out of the tournament.
The Nepali team has 15 players under the captaincy of Pooja Mahato. Soni Pakhrin is the vice-captain of the team. Similarly, Sana Praveen, Jatsnika Marasini, Kusum Godar, Elisha Kumari Yadav, Savitri Dhami and Krishna Gurung are in the team.
Similarly, Tirsana Bishwakarma, Kiran Kumari Kunwar, Riya Sharma, Rachna Chaudhary, Seema KC, Sneha Mahara and Anu Kadayat are also in the team. The tournament will continue till December 22.
