Government is not our priority: Maoist Centre Chair Dahal

Kaski, Aug 26:

CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson and erstwhile Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has said the strengthening of party organisaion and ideology is the prime focus of the party instead of getting into the power.
During his address to a concluding session of the party’s Gandaki Province-level consultative meeting in Pokhara today, Dahal directed the party leaders and cadres to reach out among the people and engage in cultivating the party’s ideology.
“It is not time for us to be calculative of the government. A day may come for others to seek our support (to form government),” he said, describing the party as the important power in the country.
“Conspiracies are being hatched to retract the accomplishments of the change. We all should be alert against such efforts. If needed, we should be ready to re-struggle to protect these achievements,” he said.
He took time to say that with an endorsement of the Transitional Justice Bill, the country is about to take off for a new juncture.
In the two-day meeting, party senior vice chair Narayan Kaji Shrestha, vice-chairs Agni Prasad Sapkota and Pampha Bhusal, general secretary Dev Gurung, and deputy general secretary Janardan Sharma, among other leaders, put their views.
