Kathmandu, May 28<\/strong><\/p>\n

CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal assured that the issues of strengthening and uplifting the country’s economy have been addressed through government policies and programs for the next fiscal year 2022\/23.<\/p>\n

While putting forth his views on the government\u2019s policies and programs for the upcoming
\nfiscal year in today\u2019s meeting of the House of Representatives, Chairman Dahal expressed
\nconfidence that Prime Minister Deuba would incorporate the issues that were not covered in
\nthe policies and programs in his address.<\/p>\n

President Bidya Devi Bhandari on May 24 presented the government\u2019s policies and programs in the joint meeting of the federal parliament.<\/p>\n

Dahal, also a former Prime Minister, spoke of the need to forge a common viewpoint among
\npolitical parties and unity among the political parties to address the national issues. Stating that the \u2018blame game\u2019 among the political parties would not resolve any issues, Dahal emphasized the need to make common efforts to solve the problems facing the country.<\/p>\n

Dahal argued that concerns should be whether or not the process of implementation of the
\nconstitution had been taken forward rather than which political parties secured how many
\nseats in the May 13 local elections.<\/p>\n

Dahal also took the opportunity to extend his gratitude to the government, political parties,
\nvoters, and civil societies for making the local election success in a single phase.<\/p>\n

Taking a jibe at the chairperson of the major opposition party CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli, he
\nurged not to forget the fact that Oli was elected Prime Minister twice with the support of the CPN (Maoist Center). \u201cDidn\u2019t you become Prime Minister twice with the support of CPN (Maoist Center)?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018If we humiliate each other, negate each other, we cannot fulfill the expectation of the Nepali citizens and deliver to the public through this current political system,\u2019 Dahal said.<\/p>\n

On a different note, Dahal said that the newly-elected mayors of Kathmandu Metropolis and
\nDharan Sub-Metropolis had truly won the local election independently. \u201cThe way these two
\nindependent candidates presented themselves with ideas and resolutions in front of people we should accept that it is special. As for their victory, I would like to think that two new flowers have been added to the flower garden of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dahal informed the HoR that the tax levied on petroleum products had been removed. He also said that he had requested Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to take measures that would provide respite to the people.<\/p>\n

According to him, the policies and programs had accorded the highest priority to agriculture, industry, education, health, and energy among other sectors. He suggested the government introduce a policy that would enable Nepal to become self-reliant in agriculture.
