For the first time in its history, Victoria’s Secret is featuring a size-14 woman in its advertisements.<\/p>\n
“I never expected that I was going to see an image of myself on the wall next to these top super models that I have been looking up to since I was a little girl,” the brand’s size-14 model, Ali Tate-Cutler, said recently during an interview with Microsoft News.<\/p>\n
“I can speak on the fact that I am comfortable with the term ‘plus size model’. I don’t get hung up on the term. I do know that I am not the first plus size model, but I am the first 12-14 size model,” she said.<\/p>\n
“Size 14 is actually the average size of women in America,” and more images of women that size need to be featured in the media and in fashion, said Tate-Cutler.<\/p>\n
For years, Victoria’s Secret has been slammed for its lack of larger-sized models. The singer Halsey and the model Kate Upton have previously criticized the company for focusing only on svelte female physiques.<\/p>\n
