When asked to comment on Thailand\u2019s military accusing Cambodia of violating the ceasefire agreement reached the previous day, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday that in recent days, the international community \u2014 especially ASEAN\u2019s rotating chair Malaysia \u2014 has actively mediated and encouraged dialogue, jointly facilitating the Monday meeting between Cambodian and Thai leaders. The ceasefire reached by Cambodia and Thailand marks an important step toward de-escalation, and China appreciates and welcomes this progress, Guo noted.<\/p>\n
Guo emphasized that China supports Malaysia in continuing to play its role as ASEAN chair and advancing a political resolution through ASEAN\u2019s approach. China backs all efforts conducive to building mutual trust and easing tensions.<\/p>\n
