Kathmandu, Aug 3:
Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, has asserted that the government had been working actively for developing and promoting industries.
During a meeting with office-bearers of the Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI) today, Minister Bhandari mentioned that continuous collaboration and cooperation between the Industry Ministry and office-bearers of the FNCSI would help in industrial development of the country.
Micro, cottage, small and middle-scale industries are the basis for the self-reliant economy, he opined, adding that the government was ready to facilitate cottage and small industries.
The Industry Minister explained that the government was committed to encouraging industrialists and entrepreneurs to spur industries.
Sharing that ‘startup’ programmes were launched for small industrialists, Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Krishna Bahadur Raut, added that such programmes would be continued in the coming days.
He urged the FNCSI to support the ministry because it moved ahead by preparing an annual book for the development of the industries, and appreciating the role of micro, cottage and small-scale industries in country’s development.
Similarly, FNCSI President Umesh Prasad Singh pointed out the need of formulating an industrial policy with clear jurisdiction and responsibility of local, province and federal governments to suit federal structure.
He laid emphasis on the need of timely revision of the Industrial Enterprises Act on the basis of experiences fared in course of running three-tier governments.
FNCSI’s former presidents and vice-presidents were also present during the meeting.
