We have no objection to the agreement of the ruling coalition; we do not participate in the MCC process: Shankar Pokharel

The use of explanatory remarks to pass the MCC, according to Shankar Pokharel, general
secretary of the main opposition CPN (UML), exposed the ‘contradiction of power.’

Pokharel also said that the agreement was signed by Congress and the CPN (Maoist Centre) and it was their responsibility to pass it.

UML has been saying that to participate in the parliamentary process, 14 MPs who have been taken action by their party should be removed, or the Speaker should be removed.

“The people have understood what the Maoists are. The cadres also understand. Therefore,
they have confirmed in time that all the allegations leveled against our president to divide the CPN were wrong,” Pokharel said.

He further added that there was no legal basis for the treaty or agreement of explanatory
announcement.
