Father burned in e-bike combustion fire in E China to be discharged from hospital while daughter remains in critical condition

The father who was burned in the electric bike combustion accident in Hangzhou, East China’s Zhejiang Province on July 18 will be discharged from hospital in two weeks, while his daughter, who was on the same bike and got severely burned, is still in a critical condition that is expected to last another 45 days, Qianjiang Evening News reported.

The father named Wei Shunli had been transferred from the intensive care unit (ICU) to an ordinary ward two weeks ago, according to Han Chunmao, director of the Department of Burns of the Second Affiliated Hospital Zhejiang University School of Medicine where Wei is receiving treatment.

According to Han, Wei received intermingled transplantations on his lower limbs and a subsequent skin graft is possibly required, but his upper limbs have been basically saved.

Although Wei cannot walk, he can eat meals by himself and dress himself.

Wei’s wife Zhai Xiaojuan told the media that Wei is expected to be discharged from hospital in two weeks. He can now speak normally but cannot speak for too long. What he is concerned the most about is his daughter’s condition.

Zhai was told that the first three months after the accident will be the most critical period for her daughter Wei Jiaqi, who is in the infection stage and is expecting another 45 days of intensive care.
