As the date of the 14th General Convention of Nepali Congress draws near, the exercise for future leadership among the leaders has intensified. On Friday, senior Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel’s party leaders discussed the possibility of fielding a joint candidate for the post.
Leader Arjun Narasimha KC informed that national politics and the role of the Nepali Congress were discussed in the meeting. He said that there was a discussion on the proposal to move forward with unity at least if there was no attempt to unite the party as much as possible and it was agreed to continue the discussion.
The meeting was attended by senior leader Poudel, General Secretary Dr Shashank Koirala, former General Ministers Prakash Man Singh and Krishna Prasad Sitaula, leaders KC, Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, Sujita Koirala, Dr Shekhar Koirala and Bal Bahadur KC.
All of them, except KC and Dr Mahat, have already announced their candidacies for the post, while other leaders have been saying that they will run for the post if there is no censensus.
