Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab on Tuesday urged the Higher Relief Committee for financial support to fighting against COVID-19, MTV local TV channel reported.
Diab urged the committee to give more than 1 billion Lebanese pounds (about 660,502 U.S. dollars) to the health ministry to help contain the spread of coronavirus in the country.
Lebanon currently does not have centers all over the country dedicated to the isolation of infected people or suspected cases, and it also lacks materials for preventing the spread of the virus.
Earlier in the day, Lebanon’s Parliament Health Committee urged the cabinet to give financial support to Rafic Hariri Hospital to enable it to fight effectively against COVID-19 in addition to adopting a unified strategy with the Health Ministry and private hospitals for this purpose.
