Kathmandu : The independent candidate for Jhapa constituency number 2, Professor Dr. Yubraj Sangraula, recently emphasized the need to prioritize ideas in the elections during a press conference. He expressed the belief that, when it comes to voting, the public should focus more on ideas than on individuals. Dr. Sangraula stated, “The voters of Jhapa-2 will vote based on ideas, not any individual.”
He also expressed his dissatisfaction with the media, noting that they suddenly turned the leaders of the National Independent Party into ‘heroes.’ He remarked, “Your role is significant, as it has resulted in some charismatic individuals becoming important overnight.”
There appears to be a competitive race featuring prominent candidates from various parties in Jhapa-2. Names such as former Speaker of the House Devaraj Ghimire from the UML, former Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar from RASP, Swagat Nepal from RPP, and former minister Sarita Prasai from Congress are prominent in the discussions. In this regard, Dr. Sangraula mentioned, “In this election, we must prioritize ideas over individuals.”
Dr. Sangraula highlighted the crucial role of intellectuals’ activism in his candidacy. He said, “The country is in crisis, and therefore, intellectuals must not only speak but also take action to save the country and provide a new direction. I have entered this political arena with this message.”
The press conference was held at the office of the National Press Club. Dr. Sangraula shared his perspectives and plans with the public. NPC
