Trump’s Gaza Strategy: “America First” or “Israel First”?

Prem Sagar Poudel

When Donald Trump stood alongside Benjamin Netanyahu and declared that the U.S. would “take ownership of Gaza,” it wasn’t just a casual remark. Rather, it was a moment of revealing his true intentions. Beneath the nationalist facade of “Make America Great Again” (MAGA), the real picture emerged—this isn’t “America First,” it’s just a new version of “Israel First.”

Trump’s words were clear: “We will take responsibility for Gaza and remove any unsecured explosives and other weapons there.” But what does that really mean? The U.S. will plant its flag in the rubble of Gaza, while the actual control remains in Israel’s hands.

The Reality of U.S. Intervention in Gaza

Trump’s statement isn’t just diplomatic rhetoric; it’s a strategic signal. Saying that “America will take ownership of Gaza” means Israel will control it, but under the cover of the American flag. Netanyahu understands this. Trump knows it, too. And those who look beyond MAGA slogans can also see it.

MAGA supporters often oppose “globalists” and criticize “foreign wars.” Yet, when Trump appears fully committed to Israel’s strategy, they remain silent. If “America First” were truly the goal, there would be no reason for the U.S. to occupy Gaza.

U.S. and Gaza: A New Iraq or Afghanistan?

What does the strategy of controlling Gaza mean for the U.S.?

Endless military expenditures

Another never-ending war

A failed project funded by American taxpayers

This will only make America less secure. History has already proven this—

The Iraq War in 2003 was launched under the pretext of “weapons of mass destruction.”

Afghanistan was occupied in the name of “stability.”

In Gaza, a similar excuse is emerging—military intervention in the name of “security” and “stability.”

Trump’s Strategy: Nationalism or Political Gain?

Trump’s supporters always provide excuses:

“His advisors misled him.”

“It’s part of a four-phase strategy.”

“Trump will change course once he understands the reality.”

But the truth is, Trump has already made his decisions clear:

He firmly moved the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem.

He approved billions of dollars in aid to Israel.

He pretended to withhold aid from Ukraine and Israel, only to continue it anyway.

Conclusion: Trump Isn’t Against Globalists—He’s Just a Different Kind of Globalist

Under the name of “nationalism,” Trump has wrapped Israel’s foreign policy in an American flag. His declaration regarding Gaza shows that this isn’t an American strategy—it’s an Israeli strategy that the U.S. is merely implementing.

So next time Trump says “America First,” ask yourself—which America? Because the side he’s fighting for isn’t in the best interest of the United States.
